We each found sport for varying reasons, but we all agree that it was an outlet for stress relief, a place of safety and a way to connect with friends (and make new ones along the way). We feel stronger in our sport; it boosts our confidence. We found something that blossomed into a lifestyle. The world we once knew is gone. Jessi has intersecting identities that are held in the utmost regard because of her relationship with self.
We talk through so much, only gently touching on her recent accomplishment of being the 1st Overall Female at the Moab 240 trail race (designed by Destination Trail Events).
Her life's experiences through illness, spiritual connections, motherhood, and trail running create the radiance that I saw in her finish line smile.

“Whatever you decide you’re gonna be really good at - be really good at that because that will define everything you do as a race director.”
Bert Gallmon is a technical trainer, a race director and a partner in the Rochester-based tri club, Wolfpack Multisport.
Bert and I talk through his early days in sport, an adult challenge to qualify for Boston, marching band, race directorship, his role with Verizon, and Wolfpack’s work to build the sport, even through virtual racing.
I enjoyed the time we had together; I know we could have been on the phone for hours.
